We’re New York City’s branch of the Modern Enigma Society, a nationally-connected LARP group specializing in games set in the World of Darkness. Our games meet monthly, on the third Saturday of each month. Currently, we run Vampire: the Masquerade (VtM) from 7pm-11pm. You can keep up-to-date and get more info by joining our Discord server.
At the moment, all our games require proof of vaccination (including the 2023 booster) and the wearing of masks to attend. If you do not have a mask at the door, a disposable mask will be provided for you.
No experience or prior knowledge of the game or lore is necessary! We are currently planning our next chronicle (campaign), with the plan of officially starting in January 2025. We’re using the Laws of the Night 2024 gaming system, and you can view all of the mechanics for it. If you want to buy the rulebook, it’s optional, but is available as a PDF, with the physical book available on the same site.
We currently are in the process of developing the timeline and setting details for our new local game, but you can read up on the types of playable characters. New York City is currently looking to play an Anarch game, which will impact the tone and some of the setting mechanics, but won’t change the types of characters that you can play.
We play in a nationally connected game, with a vast living world of PCs and NPCs all over the country. You can read more about the premise and overall setting for our national game here.
